Merry Christmas to all...
Christmas Eve. Raining, cold front just came through, looks like Christmas Day will be cold this year. very quite night. missed candlelight services, Billy recouping from surgery. midnight mass always gets me into the mood.

watch the usual shows Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, and my all time fav. Scrooge.
and a good night.

what happen?
well it's been awhile, been busy? really no excuses. promise myself to stay up on this blogging thing. hopefully I will.
Mainly running the streets, with to Anna, Texas, (about an 30 to 45 minute drive from Dallas, an hour if traffic is backed up for miles) to visit the girls and grand kids. Cold and windy.
Christina, Ashley & me took to the streets to do little Christmas shopping for the little ones and try to get some kind of ideals what they would like. no luck.
the week-end is over, Christmas get-together is over and out of the way for this year.
peace.

Mom lost this game of tag with the driveway yesterday. so off to the emergency room, 3 hours later no broken bones, just a contusion, and lots of nicks. x-rays of knee and the ole head.

fundraiser
our church (give it a plug here) St. Peter's Episcopal in Pasadena, Texas has this fundraiser each year, so this year I decided to join in for the cause. Each table had a theme ours was halloween - table looked pretty damn good if I say so myself.
the food wasn't all that great nor was the entertainment, but the monies went to several good causes in the community.
Mom & Pauline had a fun time with Reggie Dixon (of the Harlem Globetrotters, he's been retired since 2000) and his Dad Jewel. Jewel has talked about Reggie so much seems like I've known him as long as I have Jewel. Finally got to meet him, fun guy, has a sense of humor like his Dad.
All in all a great night.

Rte.61
Destination Clarksdale, MS. Was the trip worth it? You bet it was.
First stop Mickey Gilleys Blvd in Ferriday LA.to Blues Museum in Clarksdale. In Ferriday the walk of fame and an old post office made into museum. Next day on to Natchez, MS toured the city onward to Vicksburg Nat'l Mil. park. Our trip to many side towns where blues historical sites were sited. On to Indianola B.B. Kings Museum, Shaw, then to Clarksdale. Up and at'em to Ground Zero Blues Club, got there early (firing the pit up for lunch crowd). The manager Ashley Norris gave us a tour he was great could hang out with him for the day. Then across the street to Blues Museum this was worth the trip. Had Muddy Waters house which he grew up in.

found it
well I be damn! found a old post back on May 1. it was in the draft mode. how funny - well at least its funny to me. I was cussing this blogging site and anything else that was in my way that day.
got to thinking why I blog - the main reason is I've tried and tried to put my thoughts onto paper and then I would never follow through. I'm really better at doing it this way it seems like.
anyway what the hell.
heard about a small vineyard in Baytown http://www.yepezvineyard.com/ off of Tri-City Beach Rd - it is free to the public and is open only on Sundays; parking, music and the wine tasting is free too. It's a picnic style setting you know bring your lawn chairs, etc. seems like it would be a fun thing to do with friends on a Sunday evening.
Speaking of trips - leaving on the 21st of June to Mississippi for a road trip with Mom & Dele have it mapped out. Natchez, onward to Vicksburg and Clarksdale to jazz museum along the way hopefully to stop off at Morgan Freeman's juke joint. Seems like it will be a fun trip never been to Natchez or Vicksburg. Will have pic's.

old friend
Friday I lost an old friend from West Virginia. Gene Rose (Jesse), it wasn't a sudden death; it was a long one - Gene died from "black lung disease". Linda and Gene grew up on top of the mountain in Rock. His family on one side and Linda's on the other, they have tw0 boys Daniel and Robert. Robert lives just a few yards from them. Both Gene and Linda's Dads were coal miners. Gene did not start out as one, they moved to Laurel Md and worked in a printing shop and Linda did housecleaning and made damn sure supper was on the table and waiting for him.
I remember Linda said he reminded her of Elvis with his jet black hair. Gene had a great smile. He loved car racing and he loved fast Chrysler's too, that's was his car of choice.
My main memory of Gene he chewed (nasty habit - yuk) he kept his coffee (that he would spit in) can behind the sofa and it never failed my damn foot always found its way to that stupid can. well you can guess what happened next.
He will be missed.

Sidetracked
Doesn't take much to get me sidetracked. Wanted to show our newest addition to the Millers household. Looks like life is hard.
Hear him screaming now - he can wait.
Heard from a friend that just retired from the city in March, they (hubby) are in Gilmer (Texas) fixing up her Mothers house to sell. Well, they found a house in Sulfur Springs, with 10 acres. the works. it's big enough for the 5th wheel and whatever else Ken can find. It's alot of yard for Nancy to mow! Wonder if she thought of that?
Speaking of house hunting. Out looking for another house to rent - this time to our kiddo Ashley. She been transferred back to Houston. Caught Bill and I off guard. Sooo....we'll have houseguest for awhile. A 6 year old and a 4 year old! Do I need to say more?
Pauline is my upstairs room ready?
Well back to running the streets; this time to the vets to pickup stuff for the critters before the rain comes back.

well crap! lost my last posting. today is not my day for this in fact the last two weren't. could not get into my blog - always have problems trying to get in don't know why. giving this one more try then off to another blogging place. can't hit the right keys on this keyboard today.
went to The Italian Cafe with Charles & Mary P. last night as usual the food was great. the Silican Shrimp is not on the menu anymore; but, they did make it for me. it is lipsmaking good.
Waiting for the sun to come out today.
Allene went to her Mother's 60th (I think) high school reunion this weekend I think thats great, remember taking my Dad to his 50th and meeting old teachers. yes teachers. probably started teaching when they were 16. it was fun seeing him enjoying himself & meeting his ex-wife now that was kinda strange. anyway Allene will have fun.
errands are waiting .. oh look the sun peaking through.

Nothing much
had friends Pat & Dorothy over for an italian meal; the only thing that fell apart was the chocolate walnut budino when it was being transfered to the serving plate. yum..
it was good to see them it had been awhile lot of catching up.
planning upcoming mini-vacations with Allene, heading to San Antonio in May (not favorite place, to many other places to see). then with Mom and sis Dele to Mississippi in June. One of the stops to BB King's museum in Indianola, maybe to Morgan Freeman's juke joint in Clarksdale. both trips will be fun.
the backyard is calling me. it's a beautiful day

Shangri La gardens, Orange, TX
I realize what I did wrong in not getting the pic of the gardens posted. Not being fully awake doesn't help.
Need to get in the mood to finish couple of projects that I have started with the crafts - halloween stuff. Can't believe how much I've gotten into halloween lately. Outdoors keep calling my name - there is much to do - lots of weeding in the front beds, and finish the back beds too.
I'm ready for a 3 day road trip with Allene, unfortunately had to cancel our trip last week due to family emergency. had reservation for a year to go camping - yea - camping. family could not believe we were going camping, well, we had a cabin fully loaded. shower and everything else that goes with it - it's in the woods (Garner state park). That's camping.
Good Groef!
Ok I'm new at this bloging stuff -geezzee. On yesterdays trip to Orange tried to have a picture of the gardens, as you can see no such luck. I'll keep trying to get this right. Anyway the gardens were beautiful the herons were setting on their nests with their chicks. So peaceful.
